23. Ottoman Dog - The Beauty and The Beast
22. Scooby Doo
21. Pluto - Disney
20. Sparky - South Park
19. Mr. Peanut Butter - BoJack Horseman
18. Brian - Family Guy
17. Ren - Ren and Stimpy
16. Courage - Courage the Cowardly Dog
15. Buttons - Animaniacs
14. Dog - CatDog
13. Doggie - King of the Hill
12. Kisses - American Dad
Kisses comes from one of the most heartwarming and totally beyond horrifying episodes of American Dad - worming his way into Stan's heart after Stan vows to have nothing to do with him, since he's still haunted by memories of the dog he had when he was a child, whom he had to shoot, Old Yeller-style. But when Kisses is in a horrific accident, Stan refuses to let Kisses die - resulting in keeping him barely alive and in constant pain using some terrifying surgical techniques. Eventually Kisses dies - but reunites with Stan's childhood dog in Dog Heaven, where every dog gets their own speedboat (even if they do occasionally have to fend off undersea monsters every now and then)
11. Slinky Dog - Toy Story
10. Santa's Little Helper - The Simpsons
9. Odie - Garfield
8. Snoopy - Charlie Brown
Snoopy was the most charismatic protagonist of Peanuts, despite lacking the ability to speak. He's become a staple of American parades and trashy tattoos. With a dog this cool, it makes us wonder how the Round-Headed Kid could be so depressed all the time.
7. Kazak - Archer
Kazak is another in a long list of animals that Sterling Archer seems to have an unnatural connection with - although none of the others can eat quite as much kofta as Kazak can (even if he did throw up most of it). He thinks he's people!
6. Dug - Up
5. Gromit - Wallace and Gromit
4. Ladybird - King of the Hill
Ladybird is the perfect dog for Hank Hill - quiet, loyal, and a pretty decent dog dancer. For all of these reasons and more, Ladybird might be the true love of Hank Hill's life - given he shows more affection for Ladybird than he ever shows for his wife or son. And if any dog can melt Hank Hill's heart, it deserves a spot on this list.
3. Jake - Adventure Time
2. Seymour - Futurama
1. Snuffles (Snowball) - Rick and Morty
Snuffles (or Snowball, since his fur is pretty and white) has something that sets him apart from nearly any other dog in cartoon history: a terrible awareness of his own being. After being given unnatural intelligence by Rick, Snuffles slowly gained self-awareness of his own lot in life (as a testicle-less slave-pet) and the lot of dogs everywhere (as a wolf eugenics experiment gone mad). But even as he led the dog revolution, Snuffles' love for his former master Morty led him to the realization that the cycle of violence and resentment would be never-ending, and chose to find a new world for the newly aware dogs he led. The mercy and self-reflection of Snuffles makes him the greatest cartoon dog ever.
Also, "WHERE ARE MY TESTICLES, SUMMER?" might be the most bone-chilling line in cartoon history.
